This is a post about something that makes me, specifically, happy. As I said in the other posts, this may or may not make you happy. But I don’t care, because it works for me and you have to find out what works for you. I really get a kick out facial hair. I like to sport all kinds of different facial hair styles (as evidenced by the pics below), but I also appreciate seeing some sweet facial hair on other dudes.
Facial hair used to be a big deal. It was a symbol of masculinity and, for men, a way to put your own personal touch on the face you present to the world. In recent decades, facial hair has sort of fallen out of fashion, which is a real shame. However, all is not lost! Beards, in particular, have been making a comeback recently. There are even websites dedicated to facial hair like Beardcommunity.com.
Just for fun, here is what Wikipedia has to say under ‘Facial hair’:
Facial hair is a secondary sex characteristic of human males. Men typically start developing facial hair in the later years of puberty or adolescence, between seventeen and twenty years of age, and most do not finish developing a fully adult beard until their early twenties or later… In addition, the patches of hair can vary between bushy and bristly.
Male pogonotrophy (the growing of facial hair; i.e., beardedness) is often culturally associated with wisdom and virility. Men may style their facial hair into beards, moustaches, goatees or sideburns; others completely shave their facial hair.
Haha, thanks Wikipedia. Also, ‘secondary sex characteristic,’ huh? Pretty spicy. Anyway, I thought I would share a dozen or so of the various facial hair styles that have graced my face in the past 5 years. Enjoy!
My, oh my, what a glorious collection! In case you were wondering, I am currently wearing ‘The State Trooper,’ but soon I will be clean shaven for the first time in a year and a half. Anyway, I hope these pictures made you smile. They certainly gave me a good chuckle.
Tell me which one is your favorite in the comments!
